DESCRIPTION  Today, the image and concept of light has shifted away from a metaphorical connection with truth. Instead, light and light fixtures have become the medium through which lifestyle is projected and reflected. The societal obsession with celebrity, glamor and wealth, and with identity and control are beautifully and eloquently communicated through light. Disco balls are rendered in all of their superficial glory, paparazzi-like flashbulbs flash but reveal little, chandeliers glint with memories recalled and aspirations persued, gestures from commercial signage blare. The traditional meanings of light– truth, essence—are turned upside down and inside out in current work that crosses national boundaries and encompasses a range of media.
