DESCRIPTION
Evan Roth is a pioneer. At the intersection of free culture with popular culture — where viral media meets art — and graffiti connects with technology — this is the irregular zone that Roth’s work occupies. He explores the relationship between misuse and empowerment.

Although his art is in the collection of The Museum of Modern Art and has been exhibited at the Centre Pompidou, the Kunsthalle Wien, and the Tate, and has been the front page of YouTube, and he has received numerous awards including the Golden Nica from Prix Ars Electronica, Rhizome/The New Museum commissions and the Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award, Evan Roth//Intellectual Property Donor is the first one-person presentation of his multifaceted work.

The powerful and surprising images, objects and experiences this exhibition presents — from interactive installations to 1,700 tiny drawings, each the size of a cell phone screen — introduce a new way to exist within the current environment that is shaped by our participation in an increasingly cyber and global world, while staying grounded in our need for materiality and personal connections.
